    --==## SERIOUS CELEBRATION TIME!!! ##==--

    Today, 23th of June 2010 at 16:06 (GMT+1), the first 2 databases have been merged, among 2 different users, over dropbox, including path translation.

    This is some serious shit.

    Summer updates: tuning tabbles sharing and more

    Postby Andrea » Fri Aug 13, 2010 11:48 am

    HELLO WORLD!
    I've not been writing here for a loooong while, time for a little update :D

    We're working about a bunch of little things:

    1) Tuning-up the tabble sharing: most the code is there and it works pretty fine already (surprisingly fine I should say!) and the feedback from the first users is also pretty positive. We're tuning up a bunch of little things related to the licenses, we addressed a couple of extreme uses involving virtual drives mapped on FTP using Netdrive. There are still a couple of things to go... but not much :)

    2) we added the "set ignored locations festure for \\ paths"

    3) Time-based licenses: soon we'll be offering a subscription-based license (i.e. a license that expires after 12 months, a.k.a. SaaS) :D

    4) What's coming next? It's a bit hard to say at the moment, the biggest contestants is probably tracking file movin with Windows Explorer :mrgreen:

    5) Our development wave is very lively! :) We're getting lots of interesting input and suggestion... and some good code written by Leandro, you can have a look for yourself here and everyone is welcome to contribute! As googlewave will soon die, we'll move this somewhere else...

    6) what's really next is creating a tribe: this must be the most incredibly inspiring speech I've seen in a loooooong time!!! Is this googlewave the right place to start the tribe? :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

    7) Something a bit more concrete: Maurizio is trying to find a way to setup a global keyboard shortcut in order to implement a search box working like the google-desktop search - the proof is here.

    Peace,

    Andrea

    Tabbles sharing is nearly there

    Postby Andrea » Tue Sep 14, 2010 5:52 pm

    == This time we're getting there for real! ==

    We've been tuning up the tabble sharing for some 3 months now and now it's finally in "google" beta (the expression "google" beta means that the software works fine but we still prefer calling it beta...no relation with Google Inc. whatsoever) :D

    We've been internally using the tabble sharing for a few months already and several other people are using it in a production environment - it seems that it works for real!:mrgreen:
    The tentative launch is around the end of the month - that is, if I make it to do everything I need before the launch (1 video, the homepage, few pages for the site as well as pitching the press of the whole Galaxy...)

    But that's not all:
    There are other very notable things going on:
    - Our family is growing: Frans is joining us (as a MSc student) and will work on an API system for Tabbles - very exciting! More info coming soon...
    - Leandro is actively working on a DLL-injection service aimed at allowing Tabbles to detect files moved by virtually any file manager (starting from Windows Explorer). The full story is on our development wave.
    - There is also another happening coming soon - but this is still a secret and it's not less exciting than the stuff I mentioned above... stay tuned. :ugeek:

    Peace,

    Andrea

    Update: Frans joined, tabble sharing and secret-exciting-new

    Postby Andrea » Wed Sep 29, 2010 11:58 am

    == Misc (good) news ==

    HELLO world,
    a quick update here, about many new (and exciting) things.

    1) Our family is growing: first of all let me officially welcome Frans Larsen! He joined our development team (as developer nr.2 :D) and is developing an API system for Tabbles.

    2) We're VERY close to launching the tabble sharing features. We set the date to Oct 8th (let's see if we can make it with web/videos/manuals...). Lately we've been fixing a bunch of hideous bugs, tweaking the GUI and working on the stuff related to the next point.

    3) we have VERY (!) exciting news coming... but still we can't talk about it. We're expecting to show you something cool next week :-)

    Be back soon :mrgreen:

    Tabbles partners with powerfolder

    Postby Andrea » Tue Oct 12, 2010 11:30 pm

    == Partnership with powerfolder ==

    And the news is: we're partnering with Powerfolder, providing the first "tag'n'sync" cloud service in the GALAXY!
    There is a beta out, along with a free license until the end of the year! :-D

    === Download the beta here ===

    A little update before launching the tabble sharing

    Postby Andrea » Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:42 pm

    <=== WE'RE NOT SLEEPING! ===>

    ...it's quite the opposite! During the past 2 weeks we've been:

    1. Fighting with a very hideous kernel32.dll relatad series of crashes. Those were (hopefully!) fixed doing some "defensive coding".
    2. Fighting with a even more hideous crash relatad to UNC Path conversion (conversion from \\machinename to P:)due to some code we copy/pasted from some blog and didn't fully understand. After we did understand this code, and fixed it, we're still no 100% sure what went wrong. We solved this by removing the chance to blacklist a \\machine-name kind of path and developing a "Whitelist" of drives instead - we hope no one will complain about this.
    3. Been doing some work on the website: the condensed "What's Tabbles" page, the "Different versions" page and a few other things here and there.
    4. There is also a new version of the homepage banner ready to go online
    5. Video: been working on an extended version of the "Tabbles in a nushell" video (below is the WIP) and still need the audio to be recorded...

    <-------------------------------------------->

    <=== I hear you: "So, when are you finally launching the tabble sharing enabled version?" ===>

    Well, the answer is: very soon! We've been "distracted" by those few bugs that came out of the blue, building the bundle installer with the PowerFolder guys (cool stuff btw!!!) and I was behind with the marketing material - forever. But this time we're there :-)

    Peace, :mrgreen:

    HELLO WORLD,

    updating often, uh?

    Ok: we may have found a solution to the problem "moving files with Windows Explorer".

    We've been looking at the source code of SuperCopier and CopyHandler (great apps!!!) and there we realised we need to do a shell extension using C++. After some more digging we found this post and after some more digging we found the marvelous All-in-one code containing, among the others, an example of a Shell Extension written using the .net framework 4.

    When and if it works, we'll post a nice blog post about it :-)

    Cheers!

    A.

    <== API SYSTEM IN THE OVEN ==>

    The world is still moving, yes!
    Our ultra-kickass intern Frans is working on a API system and testing in Outlook, that's a shot of the very first time an external app is communicating with Tabbles:
