    @mrdna:

In playing with it more this morning it rather appears you still have to do much the same thing; I have that series of 'tabbles quick ref' files tagged with a 'quick ref' tabble. When using the search box on the file panel looking for "quick" only the 'quick ref' tabble is found

and what else would you have liked to see there? (Guessing: all the files tagged with any tabble whose name contains "quick"?)

I have somewhere around 700 tabbles (2800 files),

I have never tried to have so many tabbles and this does not surprise me. I wonder why you have so many tabbles. (Maybe you have tabbles which contain just one file? If so, I understand how you could end up with so many tabbles. I suggest to just add something to the filename in that case, do not create a tabble).

That said, of course I have to optimize things, so as not to have all tabbles in the tree exist in memory at the same time. But I haven't yet been able to.

I still wonder if it has something to do with the program trying to 'place' the new tabble,

I don't know that for sure. By heart, I would say no. However I have to test the program with as many tabbles as you have. If you want to send me your DB structure (maurizio.colucci@gmail.com), or any structure which contains that many tabbles, this would help a lot.

I don't get why you want to scroll back to the top. What are you trying to find? The "workspace" tabble in the tree? Why?

Why not? Why was the button there in the first place?

Because, in the betas, clicking in the tree would (sometimes) combine the clicked tabble; so you needed a way to start a new query from scratch, and that was the home button. But now, when you click a tabble in the tree, it is opened, not combined. So I was wondering why you wanted to click the "workspace" tabble in order to start a new query, instead of just clicking some more specific tabble in the tree.

Pretty much - basically every tabble and file with that tabble attached or with that in the filename. The one-stop search ability.

Few if any with only one file, but several with only a few. Considering I'm dealing with current political events and documents then tabble creating isn't unusual, often more files are associated over time though. Adjusting the file name? Well I did ask to get the rename function added to a combined tag/untag panel and that may help somewhat, but as you're aware, I'm adding several dozen files per day and having to open 2 or 3 different menu items for each file is just not a viable option. Creating a new tabble in the quick-tag is tough enough at this time...

You haven't tried so many tabbles at one time??! You probably should if you expect Tabbles to be viable in the business market, not to mention that if 700 tabbles causes such a dramatic decrease in useability then that seems to me to be a rather serious problem and could limit the "life" of a dynamic database.

Thought I sent you one a while back? Will email you another one when I get home later.

Read the rest of the original paragraph, Maurizio.

When combo sets are implimented in the favorites section then getting to the top of the tree gets more important - especially for us "flat file" folks...

In other words 'almost every time'. I haven't noticed any consistency related to color group, tho keeping an eye whether spelling may be something (more tabbles starting with the letter 'S' is slower creating than starting with 'Q' for example. No hard data yet tho)

Woohoo! Maurizio finally figured this one out and sent me a fix! It was indeed an issue when adding a new tabble to a color group that had -many- tabbles. (I have over 100 in some groups). With the new fix new tabble creation is almost instantaneous.

Big cheers for Maurizio for figuring this out!

Hi, a new version is available now for download which contains the fix and more.

We haven't increased the version number, so it is still 1.4.5, but if you download again you'll get the new version.

(you'll have to manually remove the previous version otherwise it won't install)

    Hello!

In version 1.4.6 the tabbles aren't ordering themselves anymore in the workspace depending on the size of the window. I am missing this effect really!!! It's horrible to zoom in or out each time I work with it.
It would be fantastic to start TABBLES in that workspace (choosing this in OPTIONS perhaps).

    What about 1.4.6 RC1......? :)

Hey there, we'll try to bring this back into the next patch... but we're really giving the workspace (old main window) very low priority because most of the people just couldn't use it... :?
