Here will go all the Betas - for your eyes only!

That sounds like how I collect my links; At work I open a folder on my thumb drive and drag the URL (from the address bar) and drop it in the folder and synch it when I get home. At home I just drag it into the folder directly and Tabbles sees it and I adds tags then.

At work also I will sometimes drag data files onto it's app.

    Is that what you're asking?

Another little thing, probably already on the list but: The systray flyout problem I mentioned a bit back? It -will- collapse if you click on (change focus to) Tabbles, but will not collapse if you click outside of Tabbles. Minor stuff.

Yes, we're making a new explorer, with tabbles included. This one MUST be idiot-proof!

Yes... mrdna  - And at the same time we present the

=== 1.4.5RC1 - now officially idiotproof ===

=== Download here the .msi (as usual) ===
(if this is the first time you install Tabbles, remember that you need the .net framework 3.5sp1)

    What's new:

    - it totally looks like Windows Explorer now - hopefully we've made the learning curve much smoother
    - much more powerful search function, check it out by yourself!
    - the Favourites!
    - rearranged/improved graphics here and there (the Quick and the rules window)
    - loooooots of bug fixing

P.S.: I'm posting the latest resx at the usual place, if your're one of our angel-translators, please be nice and have a look at them!

You need more? Maybe there will be more coming...

    Have a nice weekend everybody!

Very nice! Messed about with it a tad and...

Like the fave folder. Perhaps it could be expanded to include tabble combinations?

Search abilities are expanded to enable you to find not just nested tabbles, but -any- file within your Tabble Kingdom. Well done!

I see that the obviously horrid and near fatal bug of showing an IE logo for the Internet Address tabble has been squashed and is now properly showing the Firefox logo. 8-) (is that hard coded or is it picking it up from window's defined default browser?)

Andrea wrote:=== 1.4.5RC1 - now officially idiotproof ===

You obviously still doubt my abilities? We will see about that!

    On the downside;
Still having the usual issue of new tabble creation hanging the program for upwards of a minute -however- this is a usual problem and not an 'every time' problem. In other words 'almost every time'. I haven't noticed any consistency related to color group, tho keeping an eye whether spelling may be something (more tabbles starting with the letter 'S' is slower creating than starting with 'Q' for example. No hard data yet tho)

Drawing/re-drawing of tree and file windows rather slow. Imagine that will speed up as Maurizio optimizes code(?)

Home button disappeared. Not a big deal, but if you're pretty far down the tree it was more convenient than having to scroll back to the top.

Still scrolling sideways... Would love an option for vertical scrolling.

    VERY nicely done release guys!

    Mrdna, thanks for the comments.

That's exactly the idea, but I haven't had the time to code it.

Search abilities are expanded to enable you to find not just nested tabbles, but -any- file within your Tabble Kingdom. Well done!

Previously, searching among all files was possible but not discoverable, because you had to manually open the "tagged" tabble.

I see that the obviously horrid and near fatal bug of showing an IE logo for the Internet Address tabble has been squashed and is now properly showing the Firefox logo. 8-) (is that hard coded or is it picking it up from window's defined default browser?)

It is picking the default browser.

Still having the usual issue of new tabble creation hanging the program for upwards of a minute -however- this is a usual problem and not an 'every time' problem. I actually thought that was solved.

Let me recall: this only happens when creating a tabble in the quick dialog, right? And only when your database has lots of tabbles? (how many?)

Drawing/re-drawing of tree and file windows rather slow. Imagine that will speed up as Maurizio optimizes code(?)

I'll try. however, redrawing the main body of the file window cannot be made much faster (especially since, while the files are drawn, there is a parallel thread which updates the tree, in order to highlight the related tabbles). I might however be able to make it as fast as the previous beta.

And speeding up the update of the side tree will be more difficult, since I have to use a completely different technique which will take days to code.

Home button disappeared. Not a big deal, but if you're pretty far down the tree it was more convenient than having to scroll back to the top.

I don't get why you want to scroll back to the top. What are you trying to find? The "workspace" tabble in the tree? Why?

Still scrolling sideways... Would love an option for vertical scrolling.

In playing with it more this morning it rather appears you still have to do much the same thing; I have that series of 'tabbles quick ref' files tagged with a 'quick ref' tabble. When using the search box on the file panel looking for "quick" only the 'quick ref' tabble is found and you still have to select "search again in all files" which shifts your search into the 'tagged' tabble before it can find the files.

It certainly is much more convenient (and intuitive) than it was, though not quite the one-stop "full search" ability yet.

I have somewhere around 700 tabbles (2800 files), and yes, it does occur when creating a tabble in the quick-tag dialogue. I still wonder if it has something to do with the program trying to 'place' the new tabble, whether it's in the workspace or within it's database. An odd little thing I noticed was that now with tabbles not being hidden, on the tabbles desktop (graphical workspace) I now have a pile of tabbles. The freehand layout looks just as it did (refer to the pic I posted a while back of the 'diamond' layout) but now one of the tabbles on the interior of the layout is actually a pile of tabbles on top of each other, and it looks like -alot- of them. Trying to move one off the stack hangs and crashes the program. Basically made the workspace unusable...

Yes, I can see the interaction between the tree and the window, however at times the re-draw can be painfully slow. Last night I was moving between folders (to find untagged or inadequately tagged files and update them) and populating the file window took a second or more to add -each- file. There does seem to be some corroboration between time spent working in the program and the slowdowns.

Why not? Why was the button there in the first place? When you wish to write a new story you start with a clean piece of paper or a new Word file, you don't erase what's in the file. In that particular case it is primarily psychological, however the practical part is that it should take you back to the top of the tree where the computer and favorites sections are.

    I have no doubt. :)

Bottom line, Maurizio, is that you guys continue to make huge steps with each release and this one is no different. The refinements (such as in the rules panel for instance) are well done and the new (or improved) features continue to enhance the basic function and intuitiveness of the Tabbles program.

    Hallo Culibin!

Die idee ist dass du brauchst nicht die alte "main window" (jetzt die heisst "Tabbles Workspace"). Alle deine tabbles sind jetzt in dem kleine Baum (tree) auf der linkse seite. Versuch es ein mal!
